Hello,
In late February we are to hold a LAN with our usual 300-350 participators. We would like each user to log in with his own username/password. Last time we tried using Antamedia Hotspot server, but that only left us with a bad taste in our mouth. So now we are looking for an alternative.
Microsoft ISA Server 2006 for Windows Server 2003 could do this, but we are unsure if it is scalable. See a note about capacity at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb794813.aspx
We also wonder what has become of this application? There must be something like this in Server 2008 or 2012, but we are unable to find it.
Setup:
Our planned setup is a bounch of gigabit switches connected to a main switch, which in turn is connected to a server. The server should then handle the authentication and forward the traffic through the external interface.
Of couse it should be plug and play. A user connects a cable to his computer and has to open his browser to log in.
If you have any ideas for a stable high-capacity program no matter which platforms it runs on, we would like to hear from you.
Regards
TGVLAN
