I have been going over the documentation and forum posts for DirectAccess but am still having trouble implementing this in our production environment.
We have a private IPv4 address space that many of our servers are using while others are using public IPv4 addresses. All of these are routed through our Cisco router so on our network all resources are available.
I was able to install DirectAccess on a Server 2012 VM with 1 NIC (and assigned 2 sequential public IPv4 addresses to it). This allowed me to run through the config setup by selecting "Behind an Edge device" ( with a single network adapter. However, when I use my test laptop on our network, it shows the workplace connection and appears to be configured properly (detecting that it is on network). When taking it off network though doesn't appear to make the tunnel.
I guess my question is this: We don't really have an Edge device, but the setup was not letting me use Edge as an option. I am looking at the DirectAccess logs and am not sure how to read them. But I am wondering if I am using the correct setup. If so, then perhaps my problem is the client part. My test machine is Windows 8 Enterprise. I did nothing with the ISATAP setup as I was unsure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
