I took over a client and did not do the original setup. Here are the specs.
Store 1 has a Windows 2003 SBS server with Exchange server installed. It also does DNS and WINS
Store 2 has a Windows 2008R2 server with Exchange 2010 installed. I installed this server.
Store 2 also has a Windows 2003 Server that was there before I arrived.
These are the DC’s and Store 1 is the primary.
My question is about store 1 2003SBS server. This server has been crashing and the users just reboot it so the internet and their POS system works. I have worked around the internet issue by using the DNS from store 2 2008 R2 server.
I would like to know how to make store 2 2008R2 server the primary and to do WINS. This is because if the store 1 server fails completely I’m not sure what will happen.
Also the Exchange 2010 server was installed and made the Exchange Server but the client decided to switch to Google mail so now I have turned off all of the exchange services that I can. I tried to remove it but it’s still connected to the 2003SBS somehow and keeps telling me it can’t find the database even though it is on the same server.
