DHCP Name protection question

Hello,

We have Windows 2008 R2 AD that had its DNS hosted in BIND (without dynamic updates) and DHCP was running on a Linux server.

I recently moved both services back the Windows Domain Controller and turned on name protection as well has DNS Scavenging.

We have a mixed Mac, Linux and Windows environment.

I see the DHCIDs for the non windows machines, however I received a lot of event id 1340 which states that DNS registration has been denied.

All of our machines are laptops, so I am wondering if the machine registers itself via the wired connection and then the wireless connection kicks in, it will see that DHCP has registered the machine in DNS and will deny the second registration. Does that sound correct?

Thanks,
Akash
