Hi all,
Does DNS Server option 006 need to be load balanced when setting up multiple new scopes? i.e. do dnserver1, dnsserver2, dnsserver3 entries in this option need to be alternating in order to load balance DNS queries from the DHCP clients across the various scopes? Or doesn't it matter because the DNS traffic (TCP53) is so lightweight and the DC locator process will effectively take care of any load balancing?
This question relates to a new Server 2012 environment we are setting up, where there will be two datacentres, each hosting one DHCP server using DHCP high availability in hot standby mode. All DNS servers will be AD integrated.
Each DHCP server will be hosting the active scopes that are closest in relation to that DHCP server from a network topology perspective. In our scenario a Northern DHCP server will be responsible for all Northern scopes and a Southern DHCP Server will be responsible for all Southern scopes. There will be 3 DC's at each Datacentre (North and South) each running AD integrated DNS.
Thanks in advance.
