I’m writing to clarify a doubt I have: If my NLS server is offline (down) and my DirectAccess clients are on the corpnet, they thing that they are on the Internet, and I got a message “Connecting” on the Direct Acces clients.
It that, I cannot ping my domain (ex: contoso.local) and access the internal resouces using the DNS names.
Searching some info on the Internet about how to address this issue, I find that the option “Allow DirectAccess clients to use local name resolution” could resolve this problem. As my understanding, with that option enabled, DirectAccess clients can disable the DirectAccess and use the DNS Server assigned on the NIC card. So with that I could ping contoso.local and access the internal resources. The problem is that I couldn’t find it in Windows 8.
Am I right with this understanding? If not, is there any way to allow DirectAccess clients to connect to internal resources by DNS names when NLS is offline (considering that this clients are already in the corpnet).
Ps: Im not considering the NLB/cluster implementation.
Thanks in advance,
