Hi,
In the last couple of months I have migrated from Windows SBS 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2 and we seem to be having some issues with DNS.
Previously the DNS used forwarders to our ISPs DNS servers but during migration this was changed to use Root Hints in the Win2K8R2. This is fine but I think there is an issue with the DNS caching.
This week a change of Name Servers was made to an associated domain of our company and using nslookup I monitored the responses from our DNS server. After two days and still no change I figured something was not right with the DNS so I manually cleared the cache. Next time I queries the name servers the change was in effect.
I have read up on scavenging (which is currently disabled), should this be enabled? Why did the DNS not return the correct result without performing a manual clear of the cache?
Thanks in advance
