Hello MS experts! I'm in need of some assistance to find a way to resolve a URL problem. We have Outlook Web Access hosted internally on an Exchange 2010 server. Digital Insight hosts my MX and A records. Users outside the private LAN where exchange is hosted use this address to access it:
https://exchange.mydomain.com/owa
When on my internal LAN they need to use this address, the external address does not resolve:
https://servername.local/owa
I want my users to be able to use the external address while on the internal LAN. I attempted to add a Forward Lookup Zone using mydomain.com then added an A record pointing exchange.mydomain.com. This worked great until I realized that I could no longer access the main webserver (www.mydomain.com) hosted over at Digital Insight. Obviously adding the record killed access to the site so I removed it.
Am I on the right track here? Is there perhaps a better way to do this? I would greatly appreciate any advice.
