I'm working with a server 2003/2008 domain. My exact problem is this:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverNIS/thread/e574b6e8-33ea-4d03-af9d-ff712c456da1
However, if I force the registration of DNS with some machines that haven't updated in a long time (IE: one server hasn't updated for nearly a YEAR) nothing happens. ipconfig /registerdns on the machine does nothing when I look in the DNS console. The timestamp is still out dated. I don't want my machines to just randomly get the DNS boot.
Do I have to enable scavenging on the server before the timestamps update? As far as I can tell, it looks like the timestamps should update after I enable scavenging on the zone.
