Hi there,
I have a 2 domain controller network setup here. They are also running as DNS servers. A short while back one of the DC's keeled over and needed a rebuild.
I am rebuilding it now but when I try to put it back on it's old IP address it tells me that there is an IP address conflict and that conflict is coming from the interface on my default gateway(firewall).
I have gone and removed it from Active directory Domain controllers section as well as the DNS forward and reverse lookup. But it still tells me there is a conflict on IP, however the hostname goes back on fine. I cannot see where the conflict lies as there is no other devices on the network with that IP address. (I have disconnected and tried pinging, no reply).
I have even tried setting up the DHCP server to reserve that IP, which when I tell the new server to get it's IP via DHCP it just gives me the same duplicate IP error.
I have also set an manual ARP entry on the firewall for it, but still getting this issue.
Any suggestions?
