Hi everyone,
I've got a problem with DNS server configuration of our domain controllers. Both controllers have provide DNS server and have forwarders as well as root hint servers configures. Forwarding is required by our institution. However, BPA produces an error ("DNS:
At least one name server in the list of root hints must respond to queries for the root zone") and basically a warning for each root server being unreachable. I updated the list of root servers according to this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff807399%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
using data from db.cache. The article recommends using nslookup to check availability of root servers. However, nslookup return "Server: unknown" and a timeout. Firewall ports for DNS are configured and most DNS requests do work. Only a few are failing
and we have got this BPA error. I searched for hours but currently I am stuck. Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Oliver
