Hi guys, I'm in the process of retiring WINS. On my DHCP server, the WINS servers were configured as global options. I removed these and set them all as per scope options. Now, I want to start removing them one-by-one form each scope so I can test if any applications still need them. The problem is, when I remove them form a scope and then renew the lease on a machine, I see the following behaviour:
- On windows 7, the lease renews and the per scope options are also updated leaving the machine with no WINS servers configured as desired
- ON XP however, when the leaser renews the WINS servers are left in place just like this document indicates the behaviour on Windows 98 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224175
So, is this expected in Windows XP?
