Hi all;
I have an issue with DNS server/service. I give a concise setup so hope that helps with an answer.
1.) Have a Windows 2000 server running AD/DNS/DHCP. I inherited this AD setup.
2.) I built 2 new 2008 DC and transferred the "roles" to those off of the 2000 server (all is good there).
3.) DNS is on new 2008 servers and all zones are NOW AD integrated. All 3 servers push/pull (round robin).
4.) If I stop the DNS service on the 2000 server, client internet resolution gets REAL slow. Still resolves but takes like 15 seconds.
If I start that 2000 DNS service, resolution is MUCH faster.
Here are the questions I have.
--Could it be that DHCP service is also on that 2000 server and if I move it to one of the 2008 servers, resolution will be faster?
--Could also be the physical placement of the server(s)? 2000 server is on same switch as internet connection. 2008 servers are NOT on same GB switch.
