Looking over the 3 topologies supported by IPAM in this article, 2 of them look similarly close:
Distributed: An IPAM server is deployed at every siteHybrid: A central IPAM server is deployed along with a dedicated IPAM server per site
Taking into account that IPAM servers don't communicate amongst themselves, nor do they share their database, (1) how is the hybrid mode different from distributed mode and (2) what would be the specific functional advantage of any one of these 2 mentioned modes ? More to the point - what would that central IPAM server do in hybrid mode ?
