I have been training on Server 2012 R2 and have encountered an error I can't correct.
The short question is: In my current env, when DNS starts up on the one and only Domain Controller, I get two errors 4007 from DNS Server:
The DNS server was unable to open zone name.org in Active Directory from the A application directory partition DomainDnsZones.name.org.
The DNS server was unable to open zone _msdcs.name.org in Active Directory from the A application directory partition ForestDnsZones.name.org.
I have been unable to fix this error.
Background: When I first created my AD DS forest on Server 2008, I created it as name.org, and installed DNS. I then migrated the env to Server 2012 R2. Realizing I should setup the forest differently, I deleted the forest and recreated it as home.name.org. But apparently I left something around that is now confusing DNS. I can't find any reference to name.org anywhere in DNS or AD DS except this error message.
I removed the DNS role and reinstalled it but the error remains.
How do I get rid of this error? Do I need to remove all roles and start over?
Thanks for your help.
