Local name resolution winth multiple interfaces and different ip

Hi.

I have a w2k server with 2 ethernet interfaces with 2 different ip's. There is a dns server and the hosts file has only the localhost entry. There is also a wins server. The dns and wins records are ok, when i ping the name of the server from another machine all works as it should (because the other machine queryes the wins and ns server), but when i do a ping from the server with the 2 interfaces i get always the ip of the second interface, and not the one registered in dns/wins. Also tried to put the name in the host file, but seem that the server ignores hosts, wins and dns, and resolves itself always with an ip that choose itself (in this case the wrong one). If i disable the second network interface the server resolves with the correct ip.

I have a local service that when start resolve the local hostname with an ip, then bind a service that ip (opening a port), so when start, it open the port on the wrong ip.

Also tried do disable netbios and not let register in dns the second interface. And also tried to change the metric of the interfaces.

What i can do to force the local name resolution engine to use the ip of a specific interface, and not the wrong one?

Thanks!
