Hello,
I have a windows server that I am using as a Remote Desktop for users on a LAN to access the internet with (the LAN has no internet access otherwise). I have two NICs on the server, one in the internal VLAN where all the computers are, and the other in an external VLAN. My browser is configured with a proxy setting to allow the browser access to the internet. The external interface is my default gateway.
The problem I am having is that when I try to update the server using my internal WSUS server, I get an error that tells me I don't have connectivity to update the server. I can ping and resolve the DNS, and all setting sare being applied with a domain group policy that works for all the other servers. When I disable the external VLAN NIC, updates fail immediately, which leads me to believe it is trying to use that interface to connect to the WSUS server.
- I have a static route to my internal vla the internal vlan nic
- I have created a specific route directly to my WSUS host, using the same as above
- I have complete connectivity to WSUS, the DNS name resolves with the proper IP as well.
Any thoughts? Should I change my default gateway to my other NIC instead? Is the proxy setting in IE trying to force that traffic to the proxy, instead of letting it go to the WSUS server? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
