VPN user cannot access Navision 2015 on Server 2012 R2

Hi

We have a 2008 server (domain controller) and a separate (physical) Server 2012 R2 with only Navision 2015 and SQL server 2014 installed on it.

The servers are on the same subnet as the clients and printers etc..

The subnet is behind a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall router which also is a VPN server.

I have managed to configure the VPN server so the W8.1 and W7 clients can access the domain and have acces to network drives

email etc..

The server 2012 with NAV is of course also member of the domain.

The problem is that the users, when connected via VPN, cant open the Navision client software. The message I get could be like

" no acces to server or cant find the server" even though they are in the same domain.

I solved the problem by adding VPN users (with different login names and credentials) in AD and after that they gained access

to their NAV clients.

My questions are: Is this the correct way solve the problem? Shouldn't the users have access to server 2012 even though they have different credentials?

Thanks in advance!
