NetBT and UNC shares

Hi

We have a Windows 2008/2003 server environment. AD is 2003 functional level, and we are running Exchange 2007/2010.

We're looking at disabling Netbios over TCP in our environment as we should be using pure DNS, however I've heard that UNC sharing usingsingle names may break if we disable NetBT. Is this true? Can anyone confirm?

Reason being - we already have some servers with NetBT disabled and there are no issues? I assume because of the below, but could someone confirm?

"You can still disable NetBT and connect using a UNC to a share outside of it's subnet with the single name (NetBIOS name). THis is because AD is performing the resolution for you using DirectSMB over port 445 rather than NetBIOS over 139"
