I have recently removed two Windows 2003 domain controllers so now I am left with only Win 2008 or 2008r2 domain controllers in my domain. My question or issue is that even though I have ran dcpromo and removed these two servers I still have some entries in my zones that referenced these old servers. I had to go in and to each zone, properties, name servers tab, and remove the old servers. Is this typical or should the system have automatically removed them when I ran dcrpromo?
Also, I created a new reverse lookup zone for an office located over a WAN connection. After creating the reverse lookup zone I had to go in and add the other name servers to the name servers tab. Is this something that I was supposed to do would
the system have automatically added the other name servers to the list eventually?
Our DNS is AD integrated.
