My domain was originally created using a Windows 2k server. Which did not include the _msdcs.mydomain.com forward lookup zone. All DC's have been upgraded to Win Server 2k8 r2 and I am in the process of prepping our environment to upgrade to 2012. Prior to this upgrade, I want to correct all issues found by the Best Practices Analyzer tool. The last error I need to correct is as follows: "DNS: Zone _msdcs.sym-corp.com is an Active Directory integrated DNS Zone and must be available". I have found a few tutorials on how to create/re-create this zone but when I follow them I receive the error "The Zone cannot be created. There was a server failure". Why am a getting this error and what can I do to correct it, then create this zone? I do have the _msdcs folder listed under my domain and DNS seems to be functioning as is. Although, I want to be in full compliance prior to any further upgrades and this is slowing down the process.
