I have VM Workstation 9 and I am running x64 2008 r2 Enterprise trial with x86 windows 7 Enterprise trial. I have as my first VM a DC that is running only Active Directory. My second VM is running RRAS with VPN and also has a Certificate of Authority installed. I can make PPTP and IKEv2 work, but I cannot make L2TP work. I built a client certificate and installed it into the computer store on both the VPN and Windows 7. Windows 7 is not part of the domain, but everything seems to work when I connect with the PPTP and IKEv2 protocol. I get an error or 810 when I try to use L2TP and I have lowered the firewall and no matter what I try I get the same error. I am assuming that I need to create a client certificate for the Windows 7, but not 100% sure. I also have the correct certificate in the Trusted Root of authority store. I made sure that I am not using NAT on either of the interfaces...
What am I missing... please help
