Essentially we would like to allow our server admins, printer admins etc, the ability to log into a portal and provision IP addresses based upon their permitted subnets and internal subnet ranges, an example.. in Subnet A.. Printer admins can view and deploy to IP’s .10 - .30, where server admins can view and deploy to .50 - .60, and dhcp scopes starting at .100 - .250 are viewable by both groups. Does your product allow for anything like this?
Also we are looking for more automation regarding auditing of the assigned ranges. Examples… If an IP address is used without proper documentation in the tool, the tool would continuously (settable timeframe 4 hours, vs 1 day vs 1 week) notify the responsible team until the issue was resolved. Conversely if an IP was no longer in use that was documented the same notification would be sent out unless a “bypass/Static” rule was in place approved by the network team for that address. Does your product offer this?
We’ve also had some conversations regarding the use of DHCP reservations to increase automation of the environment. Something like a new host is added to a subnet, is given a dhcp address, then the admin goes to this tool and documents the address /host and the reservation is created in the DHCP scope by the tool to make the address semi-permanent for this host.
