We have DNS scavenging configured on a Windows 2008 Std R2 domain controller and the scavenging is set for 6 days. The refresh/no refresh are configured for 3/3 days. What were seeing in the DNS Events is occasionally the scavenging is running every 10
days instead of 6 days. This is validated via the 2501 event id in the DNS Event log. This has happened about 5 times in the last 6 months. There is nothing indicating that there was a problem with the scavenging when it should have executed but for some reason
the process didnt run when scheduled and then ran 3-4 days later which means that instead of a 6 day gap there is a 10-11 day gap. Any ideas on why this is occurring?
