Hi experts.

having some issues with my dns. I notice that in my DNS server the _msdcs folder is missing and also the _sites and _tcp folder is missing.

our environment:

domain:2003 native

forest: 2003 native

2 DC running windows 2008 r2

i've attached a screen shot

This was upgraded from windows 2000 to 2003 to 2008.

I seem to remember that the DNS should be:

Domain

 _msdcs

 _sites

_tcp

_upd

I had a old lab which was a replic or our live environment we took when we did the upgrade to the 2008 doman controllers and indeed i see that was how dns is configured

I have 2 windows 2012 member server which recently lost the ability to browse AD objects or add domain users to local groups.

I suspect it has something to do with DNS

all other server, services, workstations seems to be working fine (2008 servers, exchange, sql, etc)

can some one please advise if the the dns is indeed corrupt or misconfigured and if so how i can resolve and check that all the correct zones, partitions, etc are in place and repair?

to throw another curve ball. our domain was orginated back in the NT days and it includes a "_" (my_domain) which has cause alot of headaches thru the years...

any help will be greatly appreciated.....Im no expert and I really need someone with some deep knowlege of AD, DNS and how it all works together..

thanks
