IIS Many-to-One multiple servers

We have multiple servers (W2k8 with IIS) behind a load balancer, each server is configured to authenticate users via a certificate. The process works fine, as long as the user stays connected to the same server. However, if they get re-directed to another server, they get 403 errors. Part of the problem is that the user attempts to re-connect after the persistence time period on the load balancer is exceeded. I can change the persitence time on the load balancer, to increase the probability that the user will return to the same server, but I cannot insure the user will return to the same server. So far the only solution we've been able to use is to have the user close IE, re-open IE, clear the ssl cache & then re-connect to the web site.

I think one solution would be to 'sync' the authenticated user between the servers. Am I correct? How would that be done? Would configuring the serers into a farm resolve the problem?

Thanks
