Per an earlier thread, I was advised to turn on DNS scavenging to remove old A and PTR records. I have done this and allowed due time to take place and have the server do its thing, after a couple weeks Scavenging finally took place, but it ended up removing not just stale records that were no longer in use, but it also removed over half of the exisitng DNS records as well.
I was thinking I just needed to wait for the current DHCP leases to run out and renew and all would be well. But the leases all renewed over the weekend and not a single new entry was created.
As of now all computers can still ping by computername but I believe this is only true because everyone is connected locally on the same subnet, I cant remember the protocol that dictates this action.
Can anyone tell me how to get new DNS records?
