Hello,
I have an issue with two of my locations that each have two DC's (DNS and DHCP) per location.
The issue I'm having is recently the A record of the primary DC , DC1, is being deleted from the A record in DNS on all of the 4 DC's (DC4, DC5, and DC6) - DC1 and DC4 are in one location and then DC5 and DC6 are in the other location, DC1 and DC5 are the primary DNS and DHCP servers in both locations.
This morning, I had an issue with users unable to print in the location where DC5 and DC6 are located. DC1 is the print server for both locations. I did a ping of DC1 and I was unable to ping the server with the UNC, however I was able to ping via IP address so this told me it was a DNS issue right away. Low and behold the A record for DC1 was gone on all 4 of the DC's DNS. I re-added the A record for DC1 and the services were restored, however within one hour the A records for DC1 disappear when the site replication occurred, as scheduled, in AD S&S.
What setting could be causing the DNS settings to delete the old records after a DNS replication occurs? - It's rather annoying to have to keep adding the A record for the DC1 every hour. Outside of changing the replication schedule, this is my only course of resolving this.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm sure it's a simple fix. I've searched all over the Technet forums, but I've been unable to find a similar issue.
