Windows Server Essentials 2012 with DNS and DHCP running on server.
Clients get their Ipv4 settings from the Server with the Preferred DNS server set and reset automatically to the IP address of the server.
This created to issues:
1- When the server is down, the clients cannot browse internet
2- When the clients (laptops) travel they sometimes cannot browse as their TCP/IP settings are hard coded to a private address instead of being obtained automatically
Can we
1- Prevent the software from changing this TCP/IP setting all the time
2- If not, can we at lest automatically set the Alternate DNS server address (through DHCP for example) to a public DNS address, like 8.8.8.8?
