I am in a project of replacing a SBS2003 for a Windows 2008R2 domain. I am not migrating 2003 to 2008 because of a number of issues listed on the Internet. So I built a new box from scratch. Now when I start up the new 2008 server on the same network as the SBS2003 still in production, the DNS on the 2008 does not resolve. The SBS2003 domain is corpcama.local and the new 2008r2 domain is cama-corp.com. Although the SBS2003 Exchange configuration is also cama-corp.com I don’t think this could be the cause for this DNS issue.
Is there an issue here that both old and new DNS would fight and the SBS2003 DNS would win over the 2008R2 and make the 2008R2 DNS not resolve? I cannot access the Internet with FQDN but I can with IPS. The 2003 DNS and domain works fine!
I’m in the dark here.
