VPN Connection causes dropping of Internet access, unchecking the default gateway in the VPN settings prevents VPN from working.

Hi,

I have just installed a new Windows 2012 Standard Server that is currently running as a dedicated server at a hosting provider. Now I would like to migrate from our local network server (2008R2) to the new one.

I would like to use VPN to access the new server from my workstation to copy files and so on. Now I have set up the VPN Server OK, I have set up a Client which seems to work fine but.....

- When I connect the VPN connection, all internet connections fail.

I have found some articles that suggest that this problem is solved by disabling the use of the remote gateway in the default settings, but this then just prevents connection (because I guess the VPN uses that gateway).

Currently I have not been able to have the LAN, Internet and VPN connections fully functioning together.

I guess that this means that there are more than one thing wrong, but I have been cicling round this for a couple of days now... but I'm not getting much closer to the solution.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thanks in Advance!

John
