I'm playing around with the 2k8R2 name protection feature of the DHCP service. My question: is it correct that the DHCP server will not perform a DNS update of the A resource record for a Windows client after enabling name protection? And - because of that - the DHCP service will just create a DHCID entries for non-Windows-clients?
So Windows clients protect their RR on the DNS by themselves and non-Windows-client entries will be protected by DHCID?
