Hello everyone,
Strange issue going on for weeks now.... after several hours of tests, we may finally have found the culprit : DirectAccess 2012.
Infra :
- Windows 7 64 bits Ent. clients
- Windows 2008 DC
- DFS in Windows 2000 Domain mode
- Windows 2012 server with DA enabled (not R2)
- NetApp Storage (SMB1/2 enabled)
Steps :
- create a file when inside (connected to the LAN), work on it then logoff/shutdown
- logon from WAN using DA and open the same file
Problem :
- error message saying the file is locked by "another user"
If you close the file and open it again, it works. Then you close it and re-open it again : error.
Tests already performed :
- tried with SMB2 OFF on the NetApp : no luck, issue's still there (so not a bad implementation of SMB2 on DataOntap)
- tried with oplocks off on the NetApp : no luck, issue's still there (no oplocks on NetApp, so the lock is on the client or DA srv)
- tried to access a file not on the NetApp but still on the DFS : no luck, issue's still there (so defo not NetApp)
- tried to access a file not on the DFS (eg : SRV\c$) : no luck, issue's still there (so defo not DFS)
- tried with SMB2 OFF on the client and oplocks disabled on SMB1 : no luck, issue's still there (so defo not the client)
Only remains : DirectAccess 2012... been through forums, patches, release notes... what am I missing ? Please help, it's in production environment and we have many complaints.
Best,
Richard
