Hello everyone,
I am having a DNS issue in my organization's DNS infrastructure, and I would appreciate any fast response.
In short: I have 2 domains, a root domain (test.com) and a child domain (abc.test.com)
the child domain user objects are located in the AD of the child domain (abc.test.com), BUT.. their computer objects are located in the root domain (test.com)
The primary & alternative DNS settings in the users' IPCONFIG is set to use the domain controllers of the child domain.. so, now the problem is: the machines cannot dynamically register their hostnames, because their DNS settings point to the child domain, but the machine accounts themselves are part of the root domain.
And ofcourse, the root domain's DNS zone exists on the child domain's DCs, but as a secondary (read only) zone, so the domain controllers of (abc.test.com) cannot write to the (test.com) zone.
any suggestions on how to overcome this?
