Running Windows server 2008 R2 with Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
Having a continual problem of the DNS records (forward and reverse lookups) being incorrectly setup and not matching with the DHCP server. There are a lot of mismatches and there are several computers that have 3-7 reverse lookup zones setup for one computer.
First problem I thought was casuing this was the scope for the company was at its limits of 64 issued IP's in the pool and combined with workstations and wireless devices it was infrequently hitting that limit depending on how many people were in the office. So I extended the IP Pool to 128 which covers the companies needs easily.
The second resolution I have tried is the DHCP was setup for a lease time of 8 hours, I was thinking this was much to frequent and changed it to a more standard time frame of 8 days. Just implemented this as of this morning so not sure if this will help or not.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot the problem. Outside of just learning more about how DHCP and DNS works I am at a lose for what the root of the problem is.
