Remote site name resolution

Hello

A customer has a remote site with a file/print server which runs DHCP, but this is NOT a DC or DNS server.  Local clients point to the central site for DNS.

If the site link goes down, will clients immediately lose name resolution, even for local resources ?  Or is there any DNS caching taking place to allow name resolution to continue, even for a short time ?
