Hi,
I have had no DNS issues on this particular network for over 4 years.
Recently however, when servers are being rebooted for patching sometimes their DNS records disappear from DNS.
All of the DNS clients are using Dynamic DNS for registration and scavenging has been switched off.
I cannot replicate the issue.
The only place I can see enabled are on the actual records themselves "Delete this Record When it Becomes Stale".
Should a Dynamic DNS client de-register its DNS record when rebooted? If so why?
How can I further troubleshoot this issue? I have switched on DNS debug logging but don't see anything to help pinpoint the problem.
