I have about 5 computers running Windows 7 Professional that are constantly registering SRV records in our DNS representing KMS hosts (_vlmcs). If I delete these records a few days later they're recreated.
Executing a slmgr /dli on these systems shows the following:
Description: Windows Operating System - Windows(R) 7, OEM_COA_SLP channel
I've done some searching and found the following thread that talks about delegating access to create/modify SRV records, though I'm not exactly sure how the procedure works, so if anyone can elaborate that'd be appreciated: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/c00cf870-47bb-4d2a-aea9-2b92d694f4f9/event-id-12293-windows-2008?forum=winservergen
While I'm certainly interested in how I can resolve this I'm equally interested in what's causing it.
