I have an odd problem, on a Server 2016 i can successfully configure the VPN server to work with PPTP, but when trying to utilize the L2TP/psk I get an the following error on the windows 10 client: “The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during the initial negotiations with the remote computer”
The same windows 10 client can without problem connect to a hardware firewall where I have setup L2TP also with psk.
I have looked into various guides, e.g :https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/L2TPIPsec-VPN-On-Windows-5cc2c3ae (I only have one NIC as when I go the production environment I’m behind a USG firewall.) But I end up with the same problem regardless.
My test environment is pretty controlled, its some isolated virtual machines, a DC, a Memberserver for VPN and some clients.
In \windows\tracing I can’t really find any log file, that would shed some light over my problem. Any suggestions on where to look for a detailed log ect.?
