Hello I am having a problem with a new network install. Here are the particulars. Original network set up was a wireless router hooked up to a DSL this was changed from DSL to a cable connection about 6 months ago they did not have access to other
machines hooked up to the wireless system it was just for sharing a central printer and the internet no file sharing. Company decided they wanted and needed to go to a wired client/server network but wanted to keep the wireless hookup for whenever friends
and family would come to the office they could get on the internet. Server is running Windows server 2008R2 and all the computers were changed to new Dell computers running Windows 7 pro 64 bit they have integrated wireless adapters as well
as integrated NIC cards. There are also a couple of older machines running Windows XP they have wireless adapters installed in them as well as integrated NICs. New network setup was a new router and a switch connected to the cable modem. network
address for new wired network is 192.168.20.X the wireless network address 192.168.1.X with the wireless router being set as DHCP server new network using the server as a DHCP server. When I attempted to set up the network I kept running into the
wireless adapters wanting to hook up to the wireless router I disabled the wireless adapters on the new Computers and tried to join them to the network I kept getting "the domain controller could not be found" error. I could enable the wireless
adapters and they would make the connection with the wireless router and all was well they seemed very happy. I even placed static IP address in the NIC adapter and again disabled the Wireless routers restarted the computers. When I tried to join them to the
new network, by going into properties of the Computers and changing the network setting and changing the network name to the internal domain name abccompany.local I would again get the error "the domain controller could not be found or
there was no Active directory. I set up the server by adding the AD then using dcpromo.exe to make it a Domain Controller. I need a little help trying to trouble shoot the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
